Inheritance of securities from a deceased holder's account to the account of his heir or heirs is not automatic, it is executed on the basis of a heir's request filed with KDD.

In accordance with Article 77 of the Operations Rules, KDD enters orders for transfer of dematerialised securities to the debit of a given holder when such transfer is the consequence of death of a holder, who is a natural person, on the basis of a final decree on inheritance.
A heir may deliver a completed and signed request to KDD:
- by mail to the address: KDD - Central Securities Clearing Corporation Inc., Ljubljana, Tivolska 48, Ljubljana, or
- in person to the KDD's post room at the same address during office hours: Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, on Wednesday also from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Requests via electronic mail are not accepted to avoid possible misappropriation.
The following shall be attached to the request:
- copy of the court decree on inheritance, bearing a court's finality seal (original or certified copy),
- if the legal basis for securities transfer is an inheritance contract (f.e.: deed of gift in the event of death or contract on lifelong maintenance), a certified copy of the contract, attested by notary public shall be attached to the request and a copy of death certificate of the deceased holder of securities.
In the event of incomplete identification data on the heirs, indicated in the decree on inheritance or inheritance contract, KDD will summon the heir, in writing, to submit a copy of valid identity document.
Upon receipt of completed request with all necessary attachments, KDD will send to the heir an invoice with a money order for the costs of transfer, according to the currently valid tariff.
After receipt of payment KDD will execute the transfer of securities to the heirs' accounts and notify them of it in writing.
